Order of the Replacement Satellite of JCSAT-11 Backup Satellite Following Launch Failure
(September 6, 2007) - JSAT Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kiyoshi Isozaki; "JSAT") has announced that it ordered the same model of satellite (A2100AX platform) as JCSAT-11 from manufacturer Lockheed Martin Corporation on the same day as the launch of this communications satellite failed. Delivery of the new satellite is scheduled for the summer of 2009.
JSAT has been informed by International Launch Services, Inc., the launch service provider, that the cause of the launch failure of JCSAT-11 was an anomaly in the second stage of the Proton Breeze M launch vehicle.
