Radio Frequency Components
The RF components are usually contained in a separate shelter or housing that is close to the antenna. This reduces lost signal power and noise on reception.
What are RF components?
They include:
- The antenna or dish that is directed toward the satellite
- The electronics used to transmit and receive radio signals
- LNAs, LNBs, HPAs, Up/Down Converters, Other RF equipment
The technical components of earth stations and user terminals have similar functions and names. However, their design and cost can differ because usually one large earth station serves hundreds if not thousands of user terminals.
