When you take a closer look, satellites don't all look alike.
Many geostationary satellites have similar technical configurations and appearance. But there are key differences, and they fall in two main areas:
- Satellite transponder capacity
- Operation services that maintain the satellite during its active life
This is Horizons-1, located at 127° west longitude. It has 24 Ku band transponders located inside the vehicle, which also houses a 24-transponder C-band payload, owned by
Intelsat. Horizons-1 provides EIRP, G/T and SFD coverage, over the 50 United States, plus Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
