Protection of Personal Information by JSAT International Inc

JSAT International Inc. (JII) recognizes that JII is responsible for protecting the personal information. In order to carry out this important duty, JII enacts a basic policy about the safeguard of personal information as follows and establishes the personal information protection management system, then enforces the observance of this policy by its officers, employees and any other people concerned.

Privacy Policy

  1. We observe laws, guidelines, contract terms and other regulations related to the protection of personal information, and carry out the appropriate use and management strictly.
  2. In the event we obtain personal information, we announce purpose of acquisition/use, limited use/disclosure and contact information in advance, which may be shown in our web site.
  3. We assign Chief Information Officer as privacy management officer and keep everyone informed and well-known on the protection of personal information through the education to all of our officers, employees and any other people concerned including contractors and suppliers.
  4. For the personal information which we manage, we implement reasonable security measures to prevent misuse, unauthorized access, loss, destruction, manipulation and leak, and maintain corrective and precautious measures in a timely and appropriate manner. In addition, we appropriately supervise the contractor with which we may contract to store personal information in accordance with the standard.
  5. We assess and improve the observance situation to laws, guidelines, contract terms and other related regulations through periodical internal audit for protection of personal information, then improve the effectiveness and reliability by corrective and precautious measures.
  6. We improve continuously the personal information protection management system in consideration of the external environment change such as information technology and social trend as well as the internal environment change such as organization changes.
  7. If violation of laws, guidelines, contract terms and other related regulations is observed, we deal with it in accordance with the terms of sanctions in the employee manual.

Handling of Personal Information *

Purpose

The purpose of this rule is for JSAT International Inc. (“JII”) to realize appropriate protection of personal information in the event JII handles the Personal Information, observing laws and other regulations including guidelines related to the protection of the Personal Information.

Definition

As used in this rule, the following terms will have the following respective meanings:

  • Personal Information
    Recorded information which can identify the individual by name, address, email address, phone number or birthday, including the information which can identify the individual by combination with other information easily.
  • Identified Person
    Person identified by the Personal Information.
  • Consent of Identified Person
    Declaration of intent for the Identified Person to agree with the treatment of his or her Personal Information after the Identified Person receives information about JII’s treatment on the Personal Information. If the Identified Person is a minor or an incapacitated person, Consent of Identified Person requires consent of legal representative of the Identified Person.
  • Personal Information for Disclosure
    The retained personal data which the Identified Person claimed disclosure, correction of content, addition or deletion, suspension of use, removal or suspension of disclosure to third party.

Appropriate acquisition, use and provision to third party of Personal Information

  • Acquisition, use and provision to third party of the Personal Information which includes the following contents will be prohibited;
    1. Matters in regard of his or her thought, creed or religion
    2. Matters in regard of his or her race, family status, physical or mental disorder, criminal record or such other information causing social discrimination
    3. Matters in regard of the right of labors to organize union, negotiate as union, or such other information on the acts as union
    4. Matters in regard of participation in group demonstration, use of the right of petition or such other information on the use of other political rights
    5. Matters in regard his or her medical record or sex life
  • Notwithstanding the foregoing, acquisition, use and provision to third party of the Personal Information which includes the contents shown in the above will be permitted in any of the following events;
    1. it is essential for company operation and having the explicit consent of the Identified Person
    2. the laws and regulations require
    3. it is necessary for the protection of the life, body, or property of an individual and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the Identified Person
    4. it is specially necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the Identified Person
    5. it is necessary to cooperate with the person who legally substitute the governmental work for the state, federal or such other governmental bodies, and it is a risk to prevent such work to obtain the consent of the Identified Person

Acquisition of Personal Information

  • For the acquisition of the Personal Information, the purpose of use will be identified as possible and the Personal Information to acquire will be limited as necessary to achieve the purpose.
  • For the acquisition of the Personal Information, as a general rule, notification to the Identified Person or publication of necessary matters and consent of the Identified Person to them will be required.

Use of Personal Information

  • The Personal Information will be used appropriately in the extents necessary to achieve the identified purpose of use of the Personal Information.
  • As a general rule, purpose of use of the Personal Information may be amended or modified with consent of the Identified Person, notifying him or her of such amendment or modification in advance.

Provision of Personal Information to Third Party

As a general rule, the Personal Information may be provided to third party only after the consent of the Identified Person.

Management of Personal Information

The acquired Personal Information will be stored securing the accuracy of the Personal Information and the safety of use.

Disclosure of Personal Information

The Personal Information for disclosure will be disclosed as soon as the Identified Person is confirmed by photo ID or other documents.

Contact Point for Complaint

JII will have a contact point to receive a complaint or consultation from the Identified Person as for the Personal Information or its management.

Management of Outsourcing

The employees and others will appropriately supervise the third party company with which we may contract to store the Personal Information in accordance with the standard as contemplated in related rules.

Amendment

This rule will be amended or repealed with authorization by the Chief Executive Officer.

Effective Date

This rule became effective on September 1, 2014.
